Expedition Overview
Experience the magical transformation of the Salar de Uyuni as day turns to night. Watch the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky and salt flats in brilliant shades of pink, orange, and purple. As night falls, gaze up at the crystal-clear High Andean sky to marvel at the Milky Way reflecting seamlessly off the salt mirror.
The Route
4:00 PM - Departure from Uyuni
Pick up from your hotel in Uyuni town or hotel on the edge of the salt flat. Drive into the Salar de Uyuni toward the best water-covered area for mirror reflections.
5:30 PM - Sunset & Mirror Magic
Arrive at the ideal spot where the water creates a flawless natural mirror. Enjoy a special wine or champagne toast with snacks as the sun sets across the horizon.
7:00 PM - Cosmic Stargazing & Astrophotography
As darkness descends, witness the unpolluted night sky of the Altiplano. Observe stars, planets, and constellations reflecting under your feet with assistance from your guide for low-light photography.
9:00 PM - Return Transfer
Conclude the evening with a comfortable 4x4 drive back, dropping you safely off at your hotel in Uyuni.

Frequent Questions
How cold does it get during the night tour?
Temperatures drop very quickly after sunset and can fall below freezing (0°C / 32°F), especially between May and August. Please bring thermal layers, a heavy jacket, gloves, and a warm hat.
Are rubber boots provided?
Yes, rubber boots are provided so you can comfortably walk in the shallow water areas without getting your shoes or feet cold and wet.
Will we see the mirror effect year-round?
The mirror effect is most prominent during the rainy season (January to April). During the dry season, sunset and stargazing are equally breathtaking, showcasing the vast hexagonal salt formations under starry skies.
