Expedition Overview
Start your day before the world wakes up. Head into the pitch-black expanse of the Salar de Uyuni to stargaze beneath a pristine Milky Way, then watch in awe as the first light of dawn breaks over the horizon. Experience the surreal color changes of the salt flats as day begins, accompanied by a warming hot beverage.
The Route
4:00 AM - Departure in Darkness
We pick you up directly from your accommodation in Uyuni. Bundle up as we drive deep into the salt flats while the rest of the world is still sleeping.
5:00 AM - Astrophotography & Stars
Arrive at the perfect spot on the Salar. Before the sun begins to rise, gaze up at an incredibly clear night sky and learn how to capture the Milky Way with your camera.
6:00 AM - The First Light
As dawn breaks, witness a spectacular transition of colors across the endless white plains. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea with local pastries right on the salt flat to warm up.
7:00 AM - Morning Perspectives
Take advantage of the soft, golden morning light for incredible perspective and reflection photography across the vast hexagonal salt formations.
8:00 AM - Return to Uyuni
Return to Uyuni town with plenty of time to enjoy a full breakfast at your hotel or catch your onward transport.

Frequent Questions
How cold is it at 4:00 AM?
It is exceptionally cold. Before sunrise, temperatures in the high desert can regularly plunge below freezing (often reaching -10°C / 14°F or lower in the winter). You must bring heavy thermal layers, a thick winter jacket, gloves, and a beanie.
Is this a private or shared tour?
This early morning circuit can be booked as a private expedition or a shared group tour. If you select a shared option, you will travel with a maximum of 6 passengers in one 4x4 vehicle.
Do I need to bring my own breakfast?
We provide hot drinks (coffee and tea) and light pastries to enjoy during the sunrise. However, this is not a full breakfast, so you will be back in Uyuni by 8:00 AM, in perfect time to have a proper breakfast at your hotel or a local café.
